- What is PayPal Sandbox?
The PayPal Sandbox gives you a test environment for your code to see how it integrates with PayPal test accounts and emails. This is a different and stand-alone entity from the actual PayPal so any existing and functional PayPal accounts do not work in the Sandbox environment. - Sign-up Information
Create your PayPal Sandbox account here - https://developer.paypal.com/. You will be automatically logged in when your account is created. You need to be constantly logged in when you are testing your code. - Creating Test Accounts
You need to create test accounts in order to make "test purchases" or "test sales" in the Sandbox environment. Click the link "Create a preconfigured buyer or seller account" and create the respective accounts. - Equipping Your Code with PayPal Tools
PayPal Developer Central offers instructions on how to equip your code with the necessary PayPal tools like shopping cart, buttons, etc. - Testing Your "Buy Item" code using PayPal Sandbox
1) Ensure that you are LOGGED INTO your PayPal Sandbox account during the duration of the test.
2) When you checkout your cart, a PayPal page will pop-up, showing the payment invoice. If the page says you must login to PayPal Sandbox to use the features, close the window and start from Step 1 again.
3) If you would like to confirm your purchase, there is a login console on the right side of the page. Here, fill in the BUYER TEST ACCOUNT details (email and password) which you have created in (C).
4) After logging in, you will be asked to confirm your details once again.
5) Upon confirming, the payment will be made. The amount will be deducted from your BUYER TEST ACCOUNT.
